Itchy eyes, irritated skin, runny nose or even shortness of breath. Complaints of allergy sufferers in the spring are numerous. But what is hay fever? How does an allergic reaction occur? When flies and what pollen? And above all: what helps against hay fever? We have the best advice for people with pollen allergy.
What is hay fever?
Hay fever is the name given to pollen allergy from plants. The harmless pollen enters our body through the air. There they are perceived as danger to the immune system of some persons. The body reacts excessive. The consequences are symptoms such as irritated skin, inflamed mucosa and tearing of eyes.
Why do you get hay fever?
The reasons for the hay fever are not yet clear. Studies show: predisposition to suffer from hay fever is hereditary. In case of parents suffer from allergies, the likelihood of allergy in the child is about 40-60%. If parents suffer from the same allergy, the likelihood is even more great. Adults are not either immunized from this. Allergy to pollen can occur at any age – even if you have not been affected in previous years.
ALREADY 20% OF THE TOTAL POPULATION IS AFFECTED – UP TREND.
THE NUMBER OF ALLERGIES SUFFERING WAS ONLY 1-2 PERCENT 100 YEARS AGO.
No chance for pollen
Hay fever should never be underestimated. If pollen allergy is not treated properly, allergies can spread. If you remain inactive, the symptoms in your eyes and nose can move to the deeper bronchi. So it’s worth being repared and fighting the first ones signs of hay fever, for example with zinc.
If you are allergic to early flowers you can always start taking Unizink®50 from the beginning of the year, as a preventive measure. Thanks to this preparation, the symptoms of hay fever such as itchy eyes, sneezing, fatigue, significantly reduced without any side effects.
Hay fever in pregnant women and children
Pregnant women and children in particular suffer from allergies such as hay fever. To exclude the negative consequences for the child’s development you should be especially careful during treatment. But don’t panic: There are a number of products that pregnant women can safely take (e.g. Unizink®50). To rule out residual risks, you should seek help from a doctor or allergist.
Another special case: allergic attacks during exercise. Some allergies, for example to wheat flour, appear only when performing exercises. If you want to go to swimming, jogging or cycling after a meal, then mild allergic symptoms can lead to severe allergic shock. It is especially difficult to determine this type of allergy, as typical tests do not give any results. If you have sports-related allergic symptoms, please tell your doctor.
ZINC TO SUPPORT THE IMMUNE SYSTEM
The question of all those suffering from hay fever is:
What helps against hay fever?
If the symptoms of hay fever already you worry, allergy sufferers often rely on medication to provide for themselves quickly relief. You can often pre-order prevent the outbreak of allergies: The trace element zinc helps maintain the immune system. This can often prevent the appearance of hay fever and others similar.
We supply ourselves the trace element zinc, especially through eggs, dairy products or meat. During the hay fever season, however those affected may suddenly experience it intolerance. They suffer from itchy mouth or suddenly swollen lips. One talks about that called cross-allergy. Immune system classifies the protein contained in food as a threat. The reason is simple: the structure of protein building blocks elements is similar to that of pollen. Now the body incorrectly evaluates the ingested food as a threat.
This leads to temporary intolerance. Even if you generally tolerate nuts without any problems, an allergic reaction may occur during pollen season. If you do not eat these foods, there is a risk of zinc deficiency. For compensation is recommended to be use zinc preparations (e.g. Unizink®50). Thanks to its special protective coating, Unizink®50 passes through the stomach unharmed. It takes effect only in the thin intestines and releases the trace element zinc. There they are absorbed optimally by the body. Another advantage: Unizink®50 is dosed as such way that is usually only enough 1 tablet per day. Studies show that the uptake of zinc may lead to reduced release of histamine. Histamine increases allergies. Properly dosed zinc intake can relieve symptoms. In the same way, the suffering from allergies can benefit from the spring and warm season.
Except to relieve the symptoms of hay fever, zinc intake can also help with a number of other diseases!

Usually in the spring the problem is that you do not know exactly when the allergy will start again. To protect yourself from the reaction of the body at an earlier stage, do a skin test. The test at the doctor reveals, which pollen your immune system reacts to. In the so-called skin test, on the arm various allergenic substances are applied. If after a short time pimples or redness appear, this is an indication of an allergy. This gives us security for the pollen that causes it and is good way of preparation.
When to protect yourself
To know when to protect yourself from allergic reactions, it is useful to look at pollen calendar. Hazelnuts and alders open pollen season every year. While many would expect it to start in February or March, actually starts in December. This means, that in the middle of the cold season some allergy sufferers may already be the first to feel it symptoms. The peak number of pollens is in March. Symptoms of those suffering from allergy to birch or beech become noticeable only later. They reach their peak around April and May. There are a lot of people especially allergic to birch trees. One of the reasons for this is that birch gives especially a large amount of pollen.
